International Space Station Slow Scan TV
On July 19, 2025, at 5:20 PM, I picked up my first extra-terrestrial broadcast from the International Space Station. It was a special event celebrating the anniversary of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.

Equipment I Used
How I Captured the Image
I had my little handheld QRZ-1 tuned to 145.800 and sitting in my front window. Suddenly, I heard a noise come over the squelch that sounded like a SSTV header. I ran outside, started up Robot36, and held it up to my radio. Sure enough, the image started to come through. I unfortunately missed the first quarter of the image in my rush to get outside for a better signal.
It was the absolute coolest thing I've experienced with amateur radio by far. I cant't wait to try out a SSTV transmission for myself sometime soon!
